About Us

The story began at West Houston Airport in 1988 with a discovery flight with a friend. That flight led to working a line-crew position to pay for flight lessons to get my private pilot license since my parents didn't want me to fly. The passion to fly continued as I pursued an aviation degree at Louisiana Tech University and then served as a flight instructor in the 1990's. Life traveled down many different roads but always brought us back to West Houston Airport. When our son decided to pursue an aviation career, we researched what would be the best and safest time builder airplane. After stumbling upon a video of Bob Hoover doing aerobatics in his Aero Commander 500S we knew right away what plane to buy. Our admiration for all the accomplishments of Bob Hoover and now a love for the Twin Commander led us to name the facility "Feathered Edge" Aviation, from one of Mr. Hoover's quotes about his life.

We have had a few airplanes over the years and at times have struggled with finding a good airplane repair and maintenance facility. Frequently, our concerns would fall on deaf ears and be brushed aside. Mechanics would rarely work with us to diagnose a problem before changing parts, running up a bill, and sending us out the door with a still broken plane. When the opportunity arose to take over the operations of a aircraft repair and maintenance facility we jumped on board!
